Creative Okuti
Jan. 22nd to Feb. 26th

If you come to Okuti Garden in the later part of the summer, you might like to get creative in our traditional woodwork shop or pottery.  The idea is that your stay here can be a creative break, a chance to experience the fun of making something with your own hands and simple tools. Make a stool, carve a spoon, throw a pot, design some tiles or delve into our art box and get painting or printing.

Between Jan. 22nd and Feb. 26th, 2026, our workshops will be open to you on a drop-in basis every day during your stay with us.  They will be equiped mainly with basic traditional hand tools along with a few basic power tools. Between 10am and 12pm most days, there will be someone on hand to give you some guidance, demonstrate techniques and help you with your projects.  Children are welcome in the workshops but only to use equipment that is appropriate to their age and experience. Everyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or other adult at all times.

Some basic materials will be free for you to use. Others - such as clay and wood and some art materials - will be available for you to buy.

The minimum booking during this time is two nights. If you really want to get stuck into some creative projects you might like to stay for longer.

Please get in touch via our contact form if you want to know more about this.  Tell us what kind of creative stuff you'd like to do - woodwork, pottery, other?
